Creating Solutions for a Fortune 500 Company With Remote Employees
When the Covid pandemic forced many employees to work from home, a Fortune 500 company faced numerous difficulties in managing equipment disposition. With over 100,000 employees there was a constant stream of new laptops being deployed with older ones being returned in their place. Furthermore, the company had various internal policies to follow before allowing equipment to be decomissioned.
Working with the company, we formed a novel solution that allowed us to take on the brunt of the work of asset disposition. Employees would ship equipment to our warehouse where we would document its arrival and serial number. Weekly, lists of serial numbers would be sent to the internal IT team. From there, they could determine on a unit by unit basis if the laptop could be disposed or would need to be returned to them for various reasons, including legal holds. When equipment was determined to be disposable, we would wipe the devices and pay them for the equipment.
This solution helped them navigate a process that would have been nearly impossible to handle internally. In doing so, we ensured they were able to continue their IT practices with minimal disruption.
